Internationally acclaimed operatic tenor and USC-Thornton Professor Thomas Michael Allen will perform Brahms’ rarely-heard song cycle Die schöne Magelone (The Beautiful Magelone) at the USC Caruso Catholic Center on April 22, 2023. The set of songs tells the story of a young prince who leaves the comfort of family and home to seek adventures. He is besotted with a fair maiden but is separated from her through twists of fate and ends up lost, without a home. Then, his tragic life takes a dramatic turn through the power of faith, love, and charity. Prize-winning pianist So-Mang Jeagal and storyteller Peter Boon Koh will accompany Mr. Allen in this benefit for Depaul USA.
Depaul USA - Los Angeles is a non-profit assisting unhoused and home-insecure individuals. We operate Casa Milagrosa, a day resource center. Through radical hospitality, we provide a warm and welcoming refuge to homeless people near MacArthur Park. Daily an average of 100 men and women visit to receive services that help them overcome their homelessness.
We are managing a working group at St. Vincent Parish conducting a needs assessment for the community. We plan to bring our Dax program to L.A. The Dax program addresses students’ immediate homelessness by providing stable and safe housing. It provides students with various services that support a successful path toward continuing and completing their studies.
Your ticket donation will support Depaul USA's mission to provide crucial resources to those who most need them. It will provide warm breakfast meals, snack bag lunches, case management, counseling, showers, laundry, hygiene kits, computer services, and more to our guests experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.

Event Timeline:
6 pm to 7 pm - Meet our staff, some guests, and volunteers in the courtyard.
7 pm to 8:45 pm - Concert
There will be one 15-minute intermission. Refreshments provided.

Parking is available at the University Village across the street. Carpooling or ridesharing services are highly suggested.
